BET Award Wrap-Up

I love when black people can come into a room and celebrate our accomplishments but, I am disappointed about the way it was executed in this year's BET Awards show.Particular moments I am speaking about goes as follows. Ving Rhames needs to work on his analogies. I love Lil Wayne and Drake but, if you know you can't play half of their song due to inappropriate content, either get another performer or they need to perform another song. And what was up with the tweens on stage dancing to a song saying I Wish I Could F**k Every Girl In The World...F**k them and your definitely catching a charge. Taraji P. Henson, I like her as well but, was a little ghetto tonight I would think an Oscar nominee would act a little more reserved and I was not feeling the hair. She needs to go back to her bob haircut it fit her better. But she was nothing compared to T.I. bay mother some might say fiance' we'll see...lol. She was Ghetto to the bone. I could not imagine what she is going to have to say in a show of her own. T.I. could do so much better. Don Cornelius needs to enunciate, I had no idea what he was saying for about a good 15 minutes. I appreciate the tribute they did to Michael Jackson. Alot, of people have came down on them about it, but they didn't understand what they had to do to get even what they had. Jackson died on Thursday and the show was on Sunday. And I must remind you these shows go through months of planning. So, by Thursday the show was probably already put together and they were going through rehearsals. Therefore, to do what they did with Jackson's song being played after every break, every artist saying their Michael Jackson memories, Janet speaking, and the Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo performance (GREAT) was probably all they could do in such a little time and I appreciate their efforts. I just wish Chris Brown could have been there and said or performed something. I know he would have loved to do something in honor of his idol. BET Award show pros the Maxwell Performance, I missed Jay-Z but I heard his video went well, the O'Jays did their thing once they stopped speaking...lol. Shoutouts to Alicia Keyes and Wyclef Jean for the humanitarian work. I think the Maya Angelou quote Keyes used was beautiful and so true and finally Debra Lee looked beautiful as always. Since, this is a fashion blog and I haven't yet spoke on fashion I will a little bit Worst dressed Keyshia Cole the whole outfit was hideous. It looked like something a 12 year old would wear back in the late 90's the color did not work for her at all. The shoes were okay but, she butchered them because she could not walk in them at all. Then she is going to have the nerve to try to walk up some stairs. The Ordinary award goes to Beyonce. The dress is not my style but it worked well for her. My only complaint is it looks like something we have seen before, which is different for the usually innovative Mrs. Knowles or should we say Mrs. Carter. The best dressed in my opinion was Idris ( some people say eldris..just throwing that out there) Elba. He looked very dapper with his skinny tie and suit....and thats all for the BET Awards....Stay S.T.A.C!

Headline News!!!! Rihanna dating Drake?

According to an E! reporter Drake and Rihanna were spotted at the Year One after party. E! reported that they didn't arrive together or leave together but you could that they were dating. But, there has been reports that they have been getting close lately. There were also other reports that RiRi and Drake were making out all night at the Lucky Strike bowling hot spot when they attended with a group of friends. But, some are saying this is just a publicity stunt and they are not dating at all. In fact, Drake is supposedly dating video vixen Bria Myles. If they are not dating, they could be connected romantically because Drake is writing music for Rihanna's new album "Paranoid" So, are the dating or not? You be the judge. Because it seems like no one really knows, but do we ever really whats going on in a celebrity's life? Sorry it's not fashion news but it had to be told!!!!

Fox Sizzles on Berlin Red Carpet

Red carpet rebel Megan Fox, pushes the limit in this red Donna Karan gown on the Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Berlin premiere. The dress received mixed reviews according to E! , the dress would have been ok if the slit wasn't so high. I disagree, I like the dress. Fox is young and has a great body to take fashion risk on. With this flashy dress, Fox slicked her hair back and wore just enough jewelry; perfect choice for such a dress. My only advice is just to add a little more eyeliner to make her classic baby blues pop. I got a little bored once I got to her face. An intense eye would have really set this outfit off.

Chris Brown's Night Out

After weeks of laying low after the Rihanna incident, Chris Brown is stepping out on the town once again. This time he was spotted in Orlando at Game Four of the NBA Finals (coincidentally on his very same row was Rihanna) . Fashionably, in my eyes Chris Brown can do no wrong. Even in such a simple outfit as the one above I think he looks great. He would probably look good in a trash bag as long as he flashes that million dollar smile of his.

Comfortably Chic! - Converse Chuck Taylors

Converse Chuck Taylors are everywhere. Celebs to students, they are all over this trend. You can just kickback in these sneakers or dress down a blazer and a tee, but I wouldn't take Twilight's star, Kristen Stewart's approach to them though. ( have no idea what or who I'm talking about google her and her mtv movie awards outfit...google it baby!) Fancy dress, red carpet, and Chucks do not match. At least not in my opinion. But, the cheaply chic shoes are a good pick up the next time your at the mall!

Nstyle...the Nstyler for the week...Metallics

Get in touch with metallics with a touch of metallics. Emphasis on touch; no spacemen allowed. Metallics were seen all over the MTV Movie Awards this year. Also, seen a bit in Christian Siriano’s Fall 2009 line (so hot...love him!). A perfect way to add a little metallic to your wardrobe is with a cute metallic strappy gladiator sandals or heels. Very Nstyle.
Above photo Megan Fox hops on the metallic trend in this strapless mini bubble dress and check out the black gladiator heels...

Get to Know Fashion Through History...Vogue

Vogue was founded by Arthur Baldwin Turnure in 1892. But, the magazine did not really jump start until Condé Nast picked it up after Turnure died. Nast made it a bi-weekly publication instead of the original weekly. Years passed and the magazine became popular in other countries like France. By the 1960's, Vogue began to appeal to the younger generation. In the 1960's they were all about the sexual revolution so Vogue focused on contemporary fashion and sexuality. Vogue also started to popularize models like the well known Twiggy (for the non-fashion followers she was a judge on America's Next Top Model seasons 5-9). In 1973, Vogue became a monthly publication. Anna Wintour is the current editor-in-Chief of American Vogue and has been since 1988. She can easily be compared to Meryl Streep's character in " The Devil Wears Prada" just with a signature Bob hairstyle. She can be held responsible for giving the magazine its current high status and broader audience. She achieved this by mixing a haute couture piece with jeans on the cover. This ensemble appealed to all rich and poor by putting it together as she did. Vogue is still striving today and will be well into the future....

Fashion Quote of the Day

“A fashion is merely a form of ugliness so unbearable that we are compelled to alter it every six months.”
Oscar Wilde ( an irish playwright, poet, and author)

Miley Cyrus Blends into the Background at the MTV Movie Awards

Miley Cyrus' cowl neck nude dress was definitely a miss. Cyrus has always been known for not wearing age appropriate clothing and with this dress the legacy continues. It is summertime, a time to embrace bright colors like yellow, pink, and , so on. And being young like she is, she is able to go wild with these colors and get away with it most of the time. Back to the age appropriate point, the dress and the color is just so plain. Cyrus is only 16, a knee length dress is more for the Terri Hatcher generation. As far, as the color even for Hatcher's generation that would be a miss. That's more your grandmother's generation. Miley needs to step it up! My advice for Cyrus is to hike up the hemline, add a splash of color, and let your hair down!
